Blackberry Pearl 8100 - Suretype to Multi-tap?
I just recently bought a Blackberry Pearl 8100 (ROGERS). And default for typing is mostly "suretype" which I totally dislike. I want to switch it to Multi-tap but I do not know how. Someone told me to hold the "*" "symbol" key, which is located on the bottom row second to the left. Basically I tried to hold it, but what came onto the screen was all the symbols. What do I do? 
There's a faster way ... when in any text input field, press the menu key and scroll down. Depending upon which mode you're in, it'll say "enable Multitap" or "enable SureType".
SureType is fantastic, no doubt, but there are always times when you need to switch to Multitap (addresses, password fields that don't switch automatically, first time inputs of non-dictionary words, etc.)
BTW, holding the symbol key as others have suggested does not work for me on my 8130. Too bad!
I'm still searching for a faster way.
