What are the ideal relative sizes of gems in necklace-and-earrings set?
I'm looking to have a custom set of jewelry made as a gift. I'm buying gemstones for it, and I've found a three-piece set of identical pear-cut sapphires for a very good price. If I have the jeweler make a necklace from one and earrings from the other two, will it look okay, or do I need to have different-sized gems?
Depending on the actual size of the gems it may look fine. You can always use a setting that is clustered or dangles on the earring so they are not right next to your face, and use a necklace that will compliment it as well. It's really just personal preference when it comes to these things though. I personally like the pendant to be slightly larger on most sets, but sometimes if it's the right settings it looks great when they are the same size too!
