Martin in 3 minutes:
I was born in Jakarta and grew up in a
loving family with 2 younger siblings. My parents
sent me to the US at the age of 16 to join an exchange
student program. I then continued my education at
the University of Alabama, where I majored in Civil
Engineering. Upon graduation in 1998, I ventured
myself to look for a job in beautiful San Francisco
Bay Area. Currently I work as a Structural and Offshore
Engineer in Berkeley, California. My past employment was working
on the construction of AirTrain at the San Francisco
International Airport.
During my college years, I had the opportunity
to be a student of other Universities such as UC
Berkeley and UW Seattle, and worked as a professor’s
assistant, a waiter in a Japanese restaurant, a
pressure-cleaner to clean parking lots, a flower-deliverer
during valentine’s day, volunteer in teaching English
to high school students in Germany, and of course,
a photographer. I enjoyed learning and doing anything
interesting and meeting friends from different background
and cultures. I enjoyed traveling as well: from
exploring the alleys of Hong Kong, hiking in the Death Valley, getting lost
in Berlin and Tokyo, camping in Italy, to hiking
in the Swiss Alps and Germany's Black Forest. To sum up, I consider myself enthusiastic,
easygoing, adventurous about life (except for food), generous,
and action-oriented.
I received Jesus as my savior during my senior
year of college, which have been one of the best
decisions that I made in my life. I am thankful
for what I have experienced in life, both successes
and failures, and I am excited about the future.
There are still many things that I want to achieve
in life such as to have a loving family and be a
blessing to the surroundings. And like many people,
I also have dreams. As an engineer, after completing my further study in Engineering and Project Management, I plan to initiate
a global construction management company that will
administer massive construction projects. And as
a photographer, I plan to have own photo galleries
worldwide.
