captured bead hoops vs Stud Earring…which is safer?!?
i am currently fighting my son’s school. he has been in 16g horsehoes but we stretched him to a 14 g hoop last night (easier/cheaper to replace parts) i think the captured beads are less likely to catch and cause injury, but they insist that studs are safer (studs by the way do not have to be taped for PE class).
So they insist on taping his ears. Now, with the recent stretch they are increasing the risk of staph infection, by handling the ear, contact with tape etc….
it is my opinion, shared by my friend and local body piercing pros; that the hoops are safer!!! they don’t catch!
(oh and by the way.. what are they doing in gr 2 physed that would be dangerous? esp when school policy is supposed to be “hands off”???)
And then. there’s the hygiene side .. studs gather crusties and yuck and build up, reenter the body, again increasing likelihood infection…
what are the thoughts of the public? other parents? piercers and pierced alike?
Why are you allowing your son to wear earings to school? Have your school no dress code like all good schools, where boys are boys and girls are girls!
